What should I pay attention to when replacing crane wire ropes? In order to avoid accidents, it is very important to conduct regular wire break detection and replacement of crane wire ropes. When replacing the crane wire rope, there are these things that need our attention.
Confirm that the wire rope needs to be replaced
In order to ensure safety in the production process, the main and auxiliary booms, drums, crane hooks, pulleys, wire ropes, operating handles, pedals, level gauges, etc. of the crane need to be regularly checked.
Among them, if it is found that the wire rope is broken at 10% per share; the diameter of the wire rope is reduced by more than 7% of the nominal diameter; the wire rope is knotted; the wire rope has significant deformation such as sinking of the strands, extension of the wire, and corrosion of the wire. Replace the crane wire rope.
Pay attention to the model of the new wire rope
In order to ensure that the performance of the wire rope before and after replacement is consistent, the wire rope used for the replacement crane should be of the same type and specification as the wire rope originally installed.
If different types of wire ropes are used for various needs, you need to pay attention to two points: one is to ensure that the performance of the new wire rope is not lower than that of the old wire rope; the other is to confirm that the new wire rope can also match the geometry of the drum and pulley. That is, the actual diameter of the wheel groove should always be larger than the actual diameter of the wire rope.
Because the wheel groove will be worn to different degrees during use, the actual diameter will be smaller than the original; and the actual diameter of the unused new wire rope will generally be greater than the nominal diameter, so it should be measured before replacement.
Avoid knotting or twisting of the wire rope
In countless times of practical experience, it is not difficult to find that any steel wire rope knotted in the process of installation and replacement is more likely to wear and break during actual use.
Therefore, when replacing the crane wire rope, the correct uncoiling and winding methods should be adopted. Be careful not to loosen or twist the wire rope to avoid deformation, coil formation, bending, knotting or twisting of the wire rope. If the curvature of the wire rope is not straight, gravity should be applied to the wire rope, and the wire rope should be straightened before positioning.
If you are using a variety of wire ropes other than the anti-rotation wire rope, the natural hanging time of the wire rope should be shortened as much as possible to avoid the free rotation of the wire rope under the action of its own gravity, which will cause the local slack of the wire rope.
The operating standard when replacing the crane wire rope has a greater impact on subsequent use. Therefore, after the replacement and installation, you should use a rated load greater than 10% and let the wire rope run several times to ensure that the wire rope can be stabilized in place and more securely Attached to the reel. Especially when the tower crane is changing the rope at a high position, it should be run several times with light load.
